Just retired from NIST, Arnold is CEO of Tercio Solutions, a growing company that develops advanced dynamic scheduling software platforms for real-time optimization (reconfigures on the fly) of state-of-the-art manufacturing factory floor operations. Formerly, director, Standards Coordination Office at NIST. Joined NIST in 2006 after a 33-year career in the telecommunications and information technology industry; appointed National Coordinator for Smart Grid Interoperability in 2009. In 2011, he added an additional role as Director of Cyber Physical Systems within NIST’s Engineering Laboratory (EL). He has served as Chairman of the Board of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), President of the IEEE Standards Association, and Vice President-Policy for the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). He was also Vice-President at Lucent Technologies Bell Laboratories where he directed the company’s global standards efforts (and in previous positions at AT&T and Lucent, had responsibilities in network planning, systems engineering, and application of information technology to automate operations and maintenance of the nationwide telecommunications network.
