Robert Caldwell

Senior VP – Distributed Energy Resources, Duke Energy

robert-caldwell Rob Caldwell serves as senior vice president of distributed energy resources for Duke Energy’s regulated utilities. In this role, he is responsible for developing policies, strategies and business development activities related to distributed energy resources, which include solar photovoltaic, distributed and renewable generation; cogeneration/combined heat and power; microgrids; and plug-in electric vehicles and storage. He is also responsible for the regulated utilities compliance with renewable portfolio standards and power supply origination, and contract management activities.

Caldwell began his career with Progress Energy in 1998 and held various leadership positions. He has managed fuel procurement, power marketing and trading, energy efficiency, demand-side management, electric vehicles, smart grid, wholesale power, and emerging technology.

A native of Michigan, Caldwell earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Central Michigan University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Michigan State University.

He is currently vice chair of the board of directors for Advanced Energy and serves as a director of NC GreenPower and the North Carolina Theatre.
