Mark Parsons
SVP and Head of Texas Consumer Energy

Mark Parsons is a senior executive with 27 years of experience in the consumer energy industry, including more than 20 years with NRG Energy, Inc., a Fortune 500 energy and home services company. In his current role, Mark leads the Texas division of the largest national competitive residential electricity business in the country with approximately 3 million customers across the state. He has responsibility for all aspects of the business, including financial performance, strategic direction, customer acquisition and retention, and product development.
During his 22 years at NRG, Mark has played an instrumental role in transforming Reliant Energy from its roots as a regulated utility to the largest retail energy provider in Texas. He has helped launch new retail electricity businesses and guided several retail brands and acquisitions. Throughout his varied career, his roles have ranged from IT, project management, operations and general management to strategy development, mergers and acquisitions, and process and systems integration. Prior to joining NRG, Mark worked in business consulting with Price Waterhouse and Deloitte Consulting.
Mark is involved in his community serving on nonprofit boards including the Discovery Green Conservancy, which is dedicated to providing an uncommonly beautiful, urban green space in the heart of Downtown Houston, and Undies for Everyone, which provides children living in poverty or crisis with an often overlooked essential for success – underwear.
Mark earned a Master of Business Administration from Baylor University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Texas. He has three adult daughters and lives in Houston with his wife of 27 years.
