Sacramento’s Ambitious Energy Transition Goals
- SMUD (Sacramento Municipal Utility District) aims to deliver 100% zero-carbon electricity by 2030, ten years ahead of the state’s goal, and is committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2040. SMUD is also focused on expanding its electric vehicle infrastructure to support California’s target of 5 million zero-emission vehicles on the road by 2030. Learn more here.
- City of Sacramento’s Climate Action Plan targets carbon neutrality by 2045, with an interim goal of reducing emissions by 40% by 2030. The city also aims to transition to 100% renewable energy for municipal operations by 2022.
