Brad N. Hall is the Vice President of External Affairs for Appalachian Power Company, a subsidiary of American Electric Power (AEP). Brad’s territories of responsibility include Virginia, West Virginia and Tennessee, where he leads the following departments: Governmental Affairs, Economic & Business Development, Corporate Communications, and Customer Services. Brad moved to Appalachian Power in 2018 from another AEP Subsidiary, Kentucky Power Company where he was Manager of External Affairs. Prior to joining AEP, Brad was the President and CEO of the Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce where he was very involved in economic development for eight counties of eastern Kentucky. Brad has a great deal of experience in the utility industry. Prior to his role at the Chamber, he was the Director of Operations and Director of Revenue Assurance for Southeast Telephone, and he also served as Controller for the Mountain Water District in Pikeville, Kentucky.

Brad has 25 years management experience with rural utilities, including electric, telecommunications, water, and sewer. He has 15 years of experience in economic development, successfully preparing communities for industry and attracting industry to those communities. During his time at AEP, Brad has designed and implemented programming, developed partnerships, and worked to create new regional economic organizations that culminated into what is now known as the Appalachian Sky project. Appalachian Sky has elevated the profiles of eastern Kentucky and southern West Virginia and what these areas have to offer industry.

Brad received a master’s degree in Business Administration from Morehead State University and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Pikeville. He has completed the Institute of Non-Profit Management at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Institute at Oklahoma University. Brad is also a member of the Leadership Kentucky class of 2011.

Community service is very important to Brad. Over his career he has served on boards for over 30 organizations across Kentucky, West Virginia, and Virginia. Currently Brad serves on the board of directors for the following organizations: Virginia Chamber of Commerce, Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges, Virginia College Foundation, Team Virginia, Friends of the Blue Ridge, Virginia Business Council, Roanoke Regional Partnership, W.H. Skelton 4-H Center, and Discover the Real West Virginia.

In his personal time, Brad is an avid bass fisherman, and he enjoys traveling, music, golf, riding his motorcycle, and attending concerts. Brad is a musician and sings and plays the drums. He is married to Laura Ford Hall who has been a Professor of Communication as well as the Director of the Music & Drama Programs for Kentucky Community and Technical College System for 15 years. She is presently teaching for Virginia Western Community College since relocating to Roanoke. Brad and Laura live in Roanoke with their dog, Sammy. Brad and Laura are dedicated in their service to their church. They give thanks to God for the many blessings in their lives.
