Steve Kiesner is Director of National Customer Markets for the Edison Electric Institute. Based in Washington, D.C., EEI is the trade association of shareholder-owned energy companies. Its U.S. members serve more than 95 percent of the ultimate customers in the shareholder-owned segment of the industry, and nearly 70 percent of all electric utility ultimate customers in the nation. EEI works closely with all of its members, representing their interests and advocating equitable policies in legislative and regulatory arenas. In its leadership role, EEI provides advocacy, authoritative analysis, and critical industry data to its members, Congress, government agencies, the financial community and other opinion-leader audiences.
Among his responsibilities at EEI, Kiesner runs its National Key Accounts Program which works to improve the business processes between utilities and their large, multi-site national customers. The program also provides marketing information and intelligence on national customers to and serves as a clearinghouse of information for the industry to national customers. It provides forums for its members and multi-site national customers to engage one other — conduct business, discuss important issues, and share information. He is also responsible for Federal Government and Department of Defense customer issues including energy security, federal contracting issues, and efficiency.
